Turkey: a place for many opportunities

Strategically located in the midst of the world's most important energy resources, Turkey has a young population of 70 million and represents one of the most dynamic economies. The energy sectors play a key role: the 2007 petroleum products consumption was over 30 million tons, while more than 40 large fuel distribution companies operated in the country. More than 50 main LPG distribution companies share the market, together with some 14.000 petrol stations throughout the country.

Within the reformed framework of the petroleum and LPG market liberalization laws in 2005, a regular and liberal market development is being anticipated for the next decade. With additional positive impact by the approach to the EU standards, Turkey is becoming rapidly a focal point for foreign investors.

The investments of TÜPRAŞ, which today has the position of the largest oil refinery in Southeastern Europe, with its crude oil processing capacity of 27,6 million tons, was just the beginning of Turkey's road to become the number one energy location in the region. Many plans for building new refineries are already on the way.

An international meeting: 29.111 visitors from 83 countries

Petroleum Istanbul 2009 will continue to present unique opportunities for both participators and visitors. In 2007, the fair welcomed 29.111 visitors from 83 different countries during four days. This brought many new business opportunities for the exhibitors, which they expressed with high marks in the conducted surveys:

A unique synergy: Automechanika Istanbul and Petroleum Istanbul

As in the past years, Petroleum Istanbul 2009 will be organized at the same time with Automechanika Istanbul, the International Trade Fair for Automotive Manufacturing, Distribution and Repair. This parallel organization will bring an even larger flow of highly qualified visitors to each exhibitor, offering the possibility to expand into new industry areas.
